Turtle Salad Recipe

Turtle Salad.

This salad is just a little bit heavier than usually.

Ingredients: Bacon, Ground beef, Sausage, Egg, Breadcrumbs, Sour cream, Shiitake mushrooms, Knorr French onion soup, Spices and Cherry tomatoes.


Meatball’s aye, first we make mix for meatball’s and add some fried mushrooms.

Put 0.5dl / 1.7oz breadcrumbs to bowl with whole bag of onion soup. Soup is one of those “add water and you’re ready”  made by Knorr.

Rich, robust soup loaded with sweet onions in a savory beef broth. Sounds good right?

After that add small can of Sour cream. Mix breadcrumbs, soup and Sour cream and wait 5 minutes. While waiting slice mushrooms to small pieces and show some frying pan to those.

When mushrooms are ready add 1 Egg, meat, spices and mushrooms to bowl. Mix well. Wait 30 minutes so your Turtle mix catches some flavor.



Make a big Bacon Weave. Put some mixed meat in middle of Bacon Weave and insert tail, head and legs to that Turtle.

Fit Bacon so that legs and other parts fit out of Bacon Weave. Turtle should look something like in the picture above after turning it upside down.

This took about 1 hour in oven around 437°F/225°c. I turned that Turtle upside down for few minutes before taking it out from oven.

After that add some Cherry tomatoes and your Turtle Salad is ready.

You can cut it half and make sure that its well done from inside. You might want to get some sauce with this too.

Bonus mushroom sauce. No pictures: 100 g shiitake mushrooms, 2 tsp butter, 1 piece chopped shallots,
2 dl cooking cream, 1 tsp wheat flour, 1 tsp Dijon mustard, salt and black pepper.

Chop the onion and cut the mushrooms lengthwise into four sections. Sauté onion with butter in a saucepan, add mushrooms and let sauté a moment. Garnish with the flour, add the cream and let it simmer for a while. Season with black pepper and salt.
